EMAIL CAMPAIGNS

A CRM with email marketing included

Send a campaign to a segment of the contacts you already have, and see the replies land on their records.

Enterprise plan only

The standard arrangement is a CRM holding your contacts, a campaign platform holding a copy of your contacts, and a sync tool introducing the two. It works, and it costs three subscriptions plus the afternoon each month somebody spends working out why the two contact counts disagree.

The disagreement is not a bug you can fix. Two systems each holding a copy of the same list will always drift: someone unsubscribes in one, someone updates a job title in the other, a sync fails quietly at 3 a.m. and nobody notices for a week. Every report built on top of two drifting copies is an estimate presented as a fact.

Running campaigns from the CRM removes the copy rather than synchronising it. The segment is a query against your live records, so the audience is whoever matches at the moment you send — not whoever matched when the last sync ran.

At a glance

01

Sent on your own domain

Campaigns go out through AWS SES on your domain, so your sending reputation is yours to build rather than a shared pool's to ruin. Volume sending without the deliverability lottery.

02

Templates shared with one-to-one email

The same saved templates and merge fields your reps use for individual replies work in a campaign, so the brand voice doesn't fork between the two.

03

Suppression handled once

Unsubscribes and hard bounces write straight to the contact, so every later send respects them without a list to clean or a sync to trust.

04

One product, one bill

The usual arrangement is a CRM plus a campaign platform plus a sync tool to introduce them. This is the same job inside the product that already holds the contacts, which removes both the subscription and the integration.

Segments are queries, not uploaded lists

A list is a snapshot; a segment is a question. 'Everyone in manufacturing with an open deal over ₹5 lakh whose last activity was more than thirty days ago' is a segment — it re-evaluates every time you use it, and it's correct by construction because it reads the same records your reps are updating all day.

That also means the CRM fields your team actually maintains become marketing infrastructure. The custom field a rep fills in during qualification is immediately available as an audience filter, without an export, a mapping step, or a request to whoever owns the marketing tool.

  • Build audiences from any field on the record, including your custom fields
  • No export, no CSV upload, no list that was accurate last Tuesday
  • Unsubscribes and bounces write back to the contact, so the next send respects them automatically
  • Opens, clicks, and replies attach to the person, visible to the rep who owns the account

The result a rep can act on beats a dashboard nobody opens

Campaign reporting usually lives in the marketing tool, which means it reaches the people who send campaigns and not the people who make calls. Aggregate open rates are interesting to a marketer and almost useless to a rep with twenty accounts and an afternoon.

What changes behaviour is the specific version: this person clicked the pricing link on Tuesday. When that lands on the contact record, the rep opening the account before a call sees it alongside the last conversation and the open deal. The campaign stops being a broadcast and becomes a signal in the one place someone can act on it.

What this is not

This is sales email at scale, not a marketing automation suite. There is no landing page builder, no ad management, no lead scoring model, and no multi-touch attribution reporting. If your growth engine is content marketing and you need those, HubSpot's Marketing Hub is genuinely better at this job and we compare the two honestly rather than pretending otherwise.

It's also an Enterprise feature, and we state that everywhere it comes up. The most common tier misunderstanding in CRM buying is assuming campaigns are included at a mid tier — discovering otherwise after paying is how a trial ends in a refund request and a bad recommendation to a peer.

Questions about email campaigns

Which plan includes email campaigns?

Campaigns are an Enterprise feature. We're explicit about this because it's the single most common tier misunderstanding in CRM buying — the badge on this page reads live from plan data, so it's right as of now.

How is this different from the email inbox feature?

The inbox is one-to-one email from a record — conversations with a person. Campaigns are one-to-many sends to a segment, with open and click tracking. Most teams need both, and they're on different plans.

Do I need my own AWS SES account?

Sending runs through SES on your domain so the reputation is yours. That's the same philosophy as bring-your-own-Twilio for calling: you own the infrastructure relationship and the costs that come with it.

Do unsubscribes update my CRM automatically?

Yes — because there's only one copy of the contact. An unsubscribe writes back to the record immediately and every later segment respects it, with no sync to wait for and no window where a second system still thinks the person is subscribed.

Can I replace Mailchimp or Zoho Campaigns with this?

For sales email to your CRM contacts, yes — that's the job it does, and it removes both the subscription and the sync. For newsletter-style marketing with landing pages, signup widgets, and audience growth tooling, a dedicated platform still does more. Be honest with yourself about which one you're actually running.

How is this different from email sequences?

Sequences are automated one-to-one follow-ups that stop when someone replies; campaigns are a one-to-many send to a segment. Most teams want both. Campaigns are Enterprise, and automated multi-step follow-up lives in the workflow builder, which is also Enterprise.
